Residents should be mindful of leaving doors and garage doors open and/or unlocked. Theft is on the rise all over the city, and even though our neighborhhod proudly has been one of the safest, crime knows no boundaries nor time of day. Dryer Safety
As many as 16,000 fires start in the laundry room every year when lint from clothes dryers builds up and catches fire. Those fires result in up to 20 deaths per year. Fires can occur when lint builds up in the dryer or in the exhaust duct. Lint can block the flow of air, cause excessive heat build-up, and result in a fire in some dryers.
To help prevent dryer fires: Clean the lint screen/filter before or after drying each load of clothes. If clothing is still damp at the end of a typical drying cycle or drying requires longer times than normal, this may be a sign that the lint screen or the exhaust duct is blocked. Clean the dryer vent and exhaust duct periodically. Check the outside dryer vent while the dryer is operating to make sure exhaust air is escaping. If it is not, the vent or the exhaust duct may be blocked. To remove a blockage in the exhaust path, it may be necessary to disconnect the exhaust duct from the dryer. Remember to reconnect the ducting to the dryer and outside vent before using the dryer again. Clean behind the dryer, where lint can build up. Have a qualified service person clean the interior of the dryer chassis periodically to minimize the amount of lint accumulation. Keep the area around the dryer clean and free of clutter.

Other Announcements
Please Don't Pour Oil into Storm Drains or Litter the Community Lakes!
Reminder - Please do not wash trash and especially oil down the curbs. This ends up going down the drains and into the lake. This is definitely not good for the environment. Also please DO NOT THROW BAGS WITH DOG POOP, OR ANY DEBRIS, INTO THE LAKE OR THE DRAINS ALONG THE ROADS.
We have had reports of folks walking their dog, picking up the poop (which is good) but they are throwing it in the lake or down one of the drains (sewers). Please do not do this!
POOL AREA LOST & FOUND
We now have a Lost & Found for our pool and recreation area. If you have lost or found something, please call Gina Schneider at 992-7151.
